Alan Morell, one of the ECMAF festival's resident brass artists, is currently pursuing a doctorate at the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR.
As a performer, Alan has had an extensive career performing in symphonies across America including the Baton Rouge Symphony for five seasons, the Eugene Symphony and Corvallis Symphonies, and as a featured artist at this year’s Oregon Bach Festival where he was featured alongside Ilya Kaler, Amit Peled and Alon Goldstein.
Alan has attended numerous audition-only summer festivals including the Aspen Music Festival for two seasons, the Pokorny Seminar, Alessi Seminar as a two-time fellow and the Third-Coast Trombone Retreat. Alan studied in New York City for two years at the Mannes College of Performing Arts with Nicholas Schwartz of the New York City Ballet, George Curran of the New York Philharmonic, and Weston Sprott and Demian Austin of The Metropolitan Opera. While at Mannes he also worked on projects with Lisa Beilawa and Andrew Sterman of the Philip Glass Ensemble. Alan has recorded with a brass quintet featuring members of the US Army’s Pershing’s Own Ceremonial Band and continues to bring this and more to the Emerald Coast Music Alliance for going on 5 seasons.
